I knew a girl with the sun in her head,
a bouquet in her arms,
and a hole in her heart.

She tried so hard to fill it,
forcing things where they were never meant to go,
shattering fragile pieces and warping it forevermore.

One night we were talking,
she told me she watched her youth go by,
a cacophony of emotional turmoil and soul discharge,
failed connections and bad faith conversations.

That night she fell asleep curled up next to me,
clutching her knees to her chest,
and quietly sobbing.

She mumbled,
"I'm so sick of falling in love."
